In the current hospital environment, nurses are finding it more difficult to work with patients. There are three primary reasons: Hospitals are expecting nurses to do more with fewer staff, the level of patient demands and stress has increased, and nursing training has not provided all of the necessary people skills to facilitate patient progress and success. This 60-minute webinar will focus on the development of beneficial people skills.

Nurses who attend this webinar will learn practical people skills and interventions to improve their effectiveness in helping patients. The nature and importance of emotional intelligence will be explored. The five major components of emotional intelligence will be discussed and applied with numerous strategies provided to facilitate patient treatment and success. Participants will complete a self-assessment and learn specific strategies for improving self-awareness, social skills, self-talk, optimism, stress and anger management, flexibility, and the precursors for success with patients.
